Featuring multiresolution analysis (MRA) and coder-decoder (codec) capabilities for closed captioning (CC) and other forms of embedded data, the Modular Playout System can handle all aspects of daily broadcast operation, routing your original high-definition programming files to air with exceptional precision and resolution.

Operators of the Modular Playout System also have access to frame-accurate, DVI-quality graphic overlay and full pullback functions. Adaptability and ease of modification have placed the Modular Playout System at the cutting edge of Master Control playback technology. It integrates the latest advancements in broadcast exchange format (BXF) data conversation, router control, and station automation, along with Bitcentral’s rich scalable set of enterprise server hardware, file sharing, monitoring, open standard remote control API (application program interface), and built-in N+1 redundancy.

Functional Specs


Bitcentral’s Central Control systems support direct, back-to-back playback of mixed elements with real-time, up/down, SD/HD resolution conversions that accommodate different frame rates, resolutions, scaling, CODECs, and wrappers, thus eliminating additional transcoding processes and maintaining the essence of the original master media. Our systems also provide real-time progressive/interlaced conversion of both pass-through live feeds and locally originated file-based content.

Operators can facilitate playback from IN/OUT pointers for faster time to air, while maintaining the original master media essence and preserving video/audio quality complete with ancillary data such as closed captioning (CC) and other specialized embedded information.

The Modular Playout System supports simple “join in progress” (JIP) or “join in entirety” (JIE) functionality. A single keystroke can trigger both of these functions, and a second keystroke will return air content to the regularly scheduled broadcast. All as-run reporting reflects real-time adjustments to the schedule.

Multiple modern user interfaces increase the operator’s ability to manage both highly automated and constantly changing environments.
Supporting fully automated and/or unstaffed environments, the Playout Module includes a wide array of advanced functions such as wipes, graphic overlays, voice-overs, and squeeze backs. All these options are supported as part of profiled and templated modalities. They can also be activated in real-time during playback to address unexpected issues such as last minute schedule changes, news breaks, emergency broadcasts, and late-arriving spots, and other broadcast elements that cannot be programmed into automation.
